**A:** No, Stage 1 is not mandatory if you already understand the eligibility criteria, have identified a solution category, and are confident that you can fulfil its requirements. You are strongly recommended to[ reach out to us](https://go.gov.sg/pareginterest) if you are keen to be pre-approved.
